Thomas “Tom” Otis Isaackson was born on April 22, 1944, in Clarkfield, to Therald and Helen (Olson) Isaackson. He grew up on a farm near Cottonwood, and he attended school in Cottonwood. Tom started helping on the farm at a young age, and throughout his life also worked in motor grading, tree trimming, construction, and carpentry jobs. Tom enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. Tom could strike up a conversation with anyone, and his favorite place to meet people was happy hour at local bars. If you were lucky enough to be seated next to him at the bar, you could expect a lively conversation. Tom loved driving and traveling, regardless of where he was going. One of his favorite past times was driving around to “check on the neighbors.” Tom also enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, Tom went south for the winter, visiting his mother in Texas before her death, then going to Arizona for the last ten years, where he made some wonderful, life-long friends.

Tom died on Friday, December 13, 2019, in Mesa, Arizona. He is survived by his children Lori (and Randy) Schuler of Granite Falls, Linda Grothen of Alexandria, Colleen (and Mitch) Olson of Wood Lake, Tim (and Tammy) Isaackson of Hanley Falls, and Kenny (and Sandy) Isaackson of Cottonwood; grandchildren Chayse, Coltyn, and Ty Schuler, Derek (and Lauren) and Perry Grothen, Jared, Nicole, and Kayla Anspach, Dustin Buysse, and Logan and Taiven Isaackson; seven great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beverly Lange, and son-in-law Jim Grothen.
