Terry L. Schmidt, age 75 of New London formerly of Redwood Falls and Milory, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 10, 2021 of a heart attack at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday, October 22. Interment will be at a later date. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Terry L. Schmidt was born June 13, 1946 to Frank and Theresa (Stattelman) Schmidt in Tracy, Minnesota. He attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy and graduated from Milroy High School in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 6, 1966.  Terry served as a jet mechanic in Vietnam and he was discharged as a Staff Sergeant on May 28, 1969. After his service, Terry returned to Milroy, where he was a member of the American Legion. On January 24, 1970, he married the love of his life Jick Ausen at Alamogordo, NM. The couple lived in Milroy for a few years, but then moved to Redwood Falls in 1977. Terry worked as a heavy equipment operator for his brother, Bill, at Schmidt Construction. He began working in highway heavy construction in 1979. Terry and Jick then moved to New London in 2001, where they have lived ever since. Terry worked for Tiller Corp. and retired in 2008. He cherished the outdoors and loved to go camping. Terry enjoyed his travels to the Black Hills and Custer State Park. To pass the time, Terry enjoyed woodworking, wood scrolling and splitting wood. He also would make stained glass and carved moose antlers. Terry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Terry is survived by his wife Jick of 51 years; children: Tammy (Eric) Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD, Jarrod Schmidt of New London, and Amanda (Eli Corder) Schmidt of Redwood Falls; five grandchildren: Ethan Hanson and Trinity, Aubrey, Ashlyn & Elliot Corder; siblings: Pat DeBlieck of Park Rapids, Dick of San Antonio, TX, Marge (Pete) Bailey of San Francisco, CA, Larry (Pat) of Milroy, Bill (Bunny) of Redwood Falls and Jackie (Gary) Lee of Bulverde, TX; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Jim, Lolly, Kitty Larson, Jane Pallozo, Bud, Joe, and Ron.
