Ruth M. Hallaway, age 76 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, MN with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m with a 3:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN.
Ruth Marie, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Dahl) Larson was born on July 5, 1948 in Canby, MN. She attended Canby High School and graduated with the class of 1966. On June 4, 1966 she was united in marriage to Francis “Butch” Hallaway. They would move to Oelwein, IA where Ruth co-owned and operated Rawson Control Systems for over 30 years. Later they would move near Faribault, MN and had their home on Shields Lake. Ruth loved sewing and crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a fantastic baker and made the best bread, buns and jam. She was a member of the Oelwein, IA American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis “Butch” Hallaway; by her children, Tom (Sharon) Hallaway and Tami (Matt) Danielson; by six grandchildren, Kim (Devon) Huwe, Rik (Claire) Danielson, Jakebu (Brooke) Danielson, Walker (Emee) Danielson, Riley Hallaway (Natalie Pearson) and Nolan (Rylee) Hallaway; by seven great grandchildren, Astrid, Luella, Tova, William, Winifred, Julius and Beckham; by her siblings, Virginia (Greg) Brummels, John (Kathy) Larson, Mary (Dale) Homan and Betty (Tom) Chester and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Paul Larson, nephew, Matthew John Larson, by many brothers and sisters-in-law and niece.
