Ruth “Ruthie” Ann Bliss, age 86 of Redwood Falls, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Garnette Gardens in Redwood Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Burial is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruth “Ruthie” Ann Bliss was born on August 1, 1939, to Edward and Alvina Maxa. Ruth graduated from Wabasso High School in 1957. On April 14, 1961, she married Erv Bliss.  Ruth enjoyed sitting in the sun, reading, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. As a young woman, she loved singing with her family. She and two of her sisters sang in three-part harmony and performed at many church functions. Ruth was a hard worker, spending many years at Sward Kemp Drugstore, a local nursing home, and Artesyn. In retirement, she remained active and gave her time to volunteer work in her church and community. She was very patriotic and took pride in her country. Ruth was also a loyal Minnesota Twins fan and rarely missed a chance to watch a game.

Ruth is survived by her children: Dan (Collette) Bliss, Lori (Tim) Banken, Connie (Tom) Johanneck, and Mark (Carrie) Bliss. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Jarod, Austin, and Quinn Johnson; Ross (Kaitlyn) Anderson; Ryan (Sara) Anderson; Nicole (Loren) Smith; Fr. Aaron Johanneck; Ashleigh (Kenny) Haanpaa; Tim (Abbey) Johanneck; Tessa (Chris) Delaney; Tyler (Jess) Bliss; Mikayla Bliss; and Cassie Bliss; as well as 18 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn McKay; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Maxa and Lorna Bliss; and brothers-in-law: Glen Schueller and Neil McKay.  She is preceded in death by her son, Jon; her parents; eight siblings; sister-in-law Dianne Maxa, ex-husband Erv Bliss, and many other family members and friends.
