Raymond Remerowski, age 97, of Ivanhoe, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery in Wilno, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church in Ivanhoe. The Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Ivanhoe is entrusted with the arrangements.
Raymond A. Remerowski was born on April 20, 1922 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota to parents Joseph and Frances (Marczak) Remerowski. Ray was one of six children born to the Remerowski family. He attended District #13 country school and then attended and graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1940. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII for three years. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Ivanhoe to farm and feed cattle for the remainder of his life. Ray entered the Divine Providence Nursing Home in February of 2016 and remained there until his death on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the 97 years, 8 months and 30 days.
Ray was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe. He was also a member of the Ivanhoe VFW, NFO and Knights of Columbus where he attained Grand Knight rank.
Ray enjoyed his life of farming and raising cattle. Having an airplane for a number of years was enjoyable and made for many interesting stories. The art of folding paper into various sized boxes was something that he enjoyed doing for countless years. Playing in the family band was a fun part of his youth. Diet Coke and chocolate chip cookies was a favorite of Ray’s.
Ray is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Albin Remerowski, Evelyn DeMartelaere, Ervin “Faulk” Remerowski, Gloria Remerowski and Irene Plattes.
