Polly M. Janiszeski, age 92, of Minneota, MN, formerly of Ivanhoe, MN passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, MN. Burial will be in the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Wilno. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, March 8th with a Prayer Service at 7 pm at Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN.

Apolonia “Polly” Marie Janiszeski was born August 14, 1929, to Peter and Marie (Vieveen) Bontje in Holland. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Voorburg, Holland and continued Home Economics at the Hague. At the age of 20, she came across by ship from Holland to New York City and traveled by train with her family to Larchwood, Iowa in March of 1950.  She was united in marriage to Louis Janiszeski on February 1, 1958 in Larchwood. After their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Ivanhoe, Minnesota until moving to Minneota, Minnesota in 1995.  She served as secretary for the Altar Society on St. John Cantius Catholic Church. Polly will also be remembered for how she devoted her life to the special care given to her daughter and caring for her family, cooking, baking, and canning. She was also a very avid book reader. Polly’s family extends their appreciation for all of the wonderful care provided by the staff at Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall.

Polly is lovingly remembered by her son, Randy (Connie) Janiszeski, grandchildren: Brad (Adam Taylor) Janiszeski and Heather (Richard) Bednarek and three great grandchildren: Haley, Emily, and Evan Bednarek; sister Theresa (Bob) Soukup, sister-in-law MaryAnn Bontje and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her daughter Patricia, her parents, brothers: Bill and Pete and sisters: Cora, Rita, Margaret, and Ann.
