Patti Lynn Schoen was born on March 9, 1958, to Jerome and Corinne (Leith) Schoen in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She spoke fondly of growing up with her stepfather, Albert Lucio. Patti was baptized alongside her siblings at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church in Morton, Minnesota, and later attended the Red School House in St. Paul where she met her special friend, Sonny. Patti graduated from Morton High School in 1977. After graduation, she returned to St. Paul to attend college courses, focusing on business and earning her associate degree. She later returned home to the Lower Sioux Community to work and raise her family. Patti dedicated over 20 years of her life to a variety of roles at Jackpot Junction. She began in the original Bingo Hall working the floor—if you were in Patti’s section, you knew she worked hard while making sure everyone was having a good time. From bingo to the hot dog stand, the golf course, and eventually as a Casino Shift Manager, Patti held herself to the highest standards with her work ethic and customer service. She often remembered the humble beginnings of Jackpot Junction and laughed about the times she was paid in bingo packets. She knew the sacrifices that were made and took pride in being part of how much the casino expanded over the years. Patti later retired after being diagnosed with renal disease. In the years that followed, she traded her 8-4 job for dialysis three times a week with quiet strength, resilience, and determination. Her happiest days were spent fishing with Linda and all of the kids and grandkids. Patti also enjoyed watching the Harry Potter and Avatar series, along with other sci-fi and cooking shows. She also loved playing bingo, going to Jackpot, and taking car rides to visit friends and family with her beloved fur baby, MeMe. Patti’s home was always open—her front door was literally always unlocked. Whether you were her friend or a friend of one of her children, you were always welcomed and made to feel at home. Patti truly had a heart of gold and a deeply generous spirit. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and her new great-grandson, Mateo. She is deeply missed by all of us and will be forever remembered.
Patti is survived by her children, Dee Grey Eagle and Roy Uballe; her grandchildren: Banashi, Matthew, Hapana, Jarett, Chayton; Julius, Jazlyn, Odin, Aryhias; Styles, Vanessa; Hitho, Adrian, Ashtyn, Adalyn, Dreydan, Khili, and Kheya; her great-grandson, Mateo; and her bonus grandchildren, Damon, Cante, Topez, Grace, and Monica LaBlanc. Along with many other family and friends. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents Jerome and Corinne, stepdad Albert, special companion Sonny, daughters Debra and Lydia, sister Lori, brothers Barry & Jerome, nephews Cardo & Bubbers, infant grandson Baby Rob, lifelong best friend Linda Larsen and her fur baby MeMe. The family would like to acknowledge special thanks to the nurse & tech team at Davita, the LSPD Chief Dave Hester, Redwood County Sheriff Agre and the CentraCare EMT team for taking care of our mom & grandma.
