Michael (Mike) Roy Wente was born October 19, 1952 to Eli and Alma (Reu) Wente in Appleton, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Fairfield Trinity Lutheran, Holloway, MN. He was raised on a farm near Holloway with his three brothers. After high school Mike moved to Hancock and then shortly after that to Morris where he started his floor laying career. In 1993 Mike moved to Porter, MN. He continued to lay flooring independently and was well known in the community for his skilled work and kind, good-hearted nature. Mike also enjoyed working alongside Mary at their bar, the Cut Loose Lounge. Mike and Mary Cain-Wente were united in marriage at the Porter Hall in a ‘shotgun’ wedding on his 45th birthday, October 19, 1997 where Mary gifted him with a pistol and a long-awaited proposal and they were married among their closest family and friends that same day. Most of all Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved the MN Twins, camping, playing cards, riding horse with Mary, ice fishing, motorcycle runs on his Harley, and bus trips to Deadwood. He was a very proud grandpa who enjoyed watching his grandkids activities.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary; children: Chris (Patti) Wente, Morris, MN, Keith (Tracy) Wente, Porter, MN, Charlene (Rick) Friedlein, Maplewood, MN and Chad (Teri) Cain, Benson, MN; grandchildren: Brooke, Isaac (Emma) and Autumn Wente, Carter and Maya Wente, Taylor and Lindsey Atchison, Paige and Beth Cain and Chase Corona-Cain; great grandchild: Ophelia Corona-Cain: and three brothers: Victor (Lois), Dave (Bernie) and Tom Wente.
