A graveside service for Michael “Mike” Vierstraete, 65, of Tracy, will be Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley. Arrangements with Horvath Funeral Service of Marshall.
Michael “Mike” John Vierstraete was born to Camiel (Butch) and Shirley (Burmeister) Vierstraete on September 29, 1958. He grew up in the Green Valley and Ghent area. He attended school in Minneota and drove truck for his dad’s milk hauling business for over 30 years. Then in 1997 he took the business over and trucked till 2003, when he was forced into retirement from his Multiple Sclerosis. For the past 16 1/2 years, Mike had resided at the Prairie View Nursing Home in Tracy, MN. He loved sitting outside in the summer, spending time with his family and grandkids, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings in his Vikings jersey. He made many friends in his time at the nursing home and was loved by so many. Mike was united in marriage to Darlene Finseth and had four children.
Mike died on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy. He is survived by his four children Curt (Sara) Vierstraete of Wahpeton, ND, Brian (Jenny) Vierstraete of Ghent, MN, Jeff (Erica) Vierstraete of Ghent, MN and Amy Vierstraete of Ghent, MN; five grandchildren Dominik and Dylan of Wahpeton, Mackenzie (Nolan) of Lynd, Austin of Ghent, and Elizabeth of Ghent; one great grandchild Freya Jo Vierstraete; brother Rick (Denise) Vierstraete of Ghent; brother -in-law Doug Meulebroeck of Brandon,SD. He was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Meulebroeck, mother Shirley Burmeister, and father Caimel (Butch) Vierstraete.
