MaryAnn Tykwinski, age 87,from Ivanhoe, MN passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at the Clarkfield Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 24th at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Thursday, July 23rd at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with a rosary at 5pm and a prayer service at 7pm. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Wilno, MN. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
MaryAnn, daughter of Kate (Bednarek) and Alex Lipinski, was born on Christmas Day, 1938, in Royal Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of six children and the only daughter among five brothers. MaryAnn joked that she could run faster than all her brothers—and even the other children at school. During her childhood, the family lived on two different farms in southwestern Minnesota. She graduated from Minneota High School in 1956. Following graduation, MaryAnn was enrolled in a program involving finance, accounting and a job at Community First Bank in Ivanhoe which brought her, Phyllis Lietz and Ruth Marczak together as students, co-workers and roommates. They went everywhere together and were described as the “Three Musketeers.” On October 4, 1958, MaryAnn was united in marriage to James Tykwinski at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, Minnesota. Together they built a life on a farm near Ivanhoe and were blessed with six children. MaryAnn devoted herself to her family and the farm, tending large gardens, canning produce, and raising chickens. In addition to her work at home, she did part-time office work for the National Farmers Organization (NFO) in Ivanhoe. MaryAnn moved to Ivanhoe with her son Richard (Richie) after her other children had left home. There, she devoted herself to raising Richie and spent many years working at the Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) in Canby, Minnesota, where she worked until the age of 70. She treasured her many friendships, including a special friendship with Donald (Donny) Lietz. MaryAnn was blessed with deep faith and a strong spiritual foundation that helped her face life’s challenges with grace and resilience. A devoted member of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement, she was dedicated to the Blessed Mary, found solace in the rosary and was active in church life. She gave generously of herself throughout her life, always putting others before herself and finding joy in serving those around her. She loved her family, cherished her friendships, and approached life with gratitude and optimism. Whether with friends, children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, MaryAnn brought warmth, laughter, and a spirit of fun wherever she went. She enjoyed tending her garden, playing cards, dice, and other games, trying her luck at the casino, and, above all, spending time with the people she loved.
MaryAnn passed away on July 20, 2026 at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, Minnesota at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 26 days. Blessed be her memory.
She was preceded in death by parents, Kate (Bednarek) and Alex Lipinski; brothers, Marcel, Raymond, Richard and Donald, daughter Katrin (Katie) Czeck, grandson Michael Czeck, and special friend Donald Lietz. She is survived by a brother: Leonard Lipinski and special friend Judy Beltz. Children: Steven (Lisa) children Neal and Drew (Courtney); Randal, children Theresa (Brian) Cornell, Mitch, Sonja, Derek Alderman; Joseph (Betty), children Megan Carlblom, Bryan (Reah); Thomas (Sheila), children Jessica (Mike) Stowman, Stacey (Bryce) Cable, Shawn (Anna), and Jaelyn; children of Katrin Czeck, Ashley (Gerrit) Slegers, Timothy (Danica) Czeck, Jenna (Andy) Caskey; Richard Tykwinski; and 26 great-grandchildren.
