Marvin Lee Clayton age 83 of Westbrook passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD while surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Interment is in the Slayton Memorial Garden. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marvin was born January 8, 1938 in Campobello, S.C. to William Sr. & Laura (King) Clayton. He attended school in Campobello and Inman S.C. Marvin enlisted in the US Air Force and served until he received his honorable discharge. While in the Air Force, he enjoyed sports, and worked as a boxing coach in England. On August 11, 1959, Marvin was united in marriage to Audrey Peterson in Slayton. Together the couple lived near Westbrook where Marvin helped the Peterson family on the farm. He loved the years working on the farm. Marvin also served in the Minnesota National Guard and worked as a recruiter for many years. He was a member of the Westbrook VFW. Marvin enjoyed horses and going on trail rides. Most of all, Marvin loved spending time with his family and traveling to visit relatives.
Marvin is survived by his wife Audrey of 62 years; daughters: Sherilyn (Jerry) England of Gillette, WY, Diane (Norman) Ward of Lexington, KY & Linda (John) Clayton-Behr of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Shane Stefanick of Wyoming, Casey, Jace & Hannah Ward all of Kentucky, Ella Ebner of Minneapolis and Francesca & Jonea Behr of Minneapolis; five great grandchildren; brother Harley Clayton & sister Joyce Farmer both of South Carolina and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: John, William Jr., Annie Clayton, Pearl Payne and Willie Mae Clayton.
