Funeral service for Marlin Paul Kuehn, 92, of Redwood Falls, MN will take place on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, MN beginning at 10:30 a.m. Public visitation will take place Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association in Echo, MN from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning at Peace Lutheran beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the Echo City Cemetery following the funeral service. Upon conclusion of the graveside service a luncheon will be provided at church. The Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association in Echo is handling the arrangements.
Marlin Paul Kuehn was born on November 14, 1932 to Paul and Hertha (Wendt) Kuehn in Echo Township, MN. He was baptized that same day at home by Pastor Carl J. Schrader. He grew up on a farm outside of Echo and attended Echo Public School until the spring of 1946 when he completed the 8th grade. He was confirmed on April 14, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, MN by Pastor Theo Bauer. He began working on the family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. He served until 1955 notably stationed at Camp Gordon, Fort Hood, and Nurenberg, Germany. Once Marlin completed his service, he returned to Echo and continued to farm until his retirement in 1995. On May 23, 1958 Marlin was united in marriage to Darlene Kreft at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN by Pastor Walter O. Nommensen. The couple raised their family on a farm outside of Echo, MN. Marlin served 17 years on the Peace Lutheran Church Council. He spent 9 years as an elder and 4 years each as home treasurer and synod treasurer. He enjoyed welding and wiring. Marlin and Darlene enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout their lives together. Later in life he could often be found at Pizza Ranch enjoying his chicken legs. Marlin’s faith and family were the most important things in his life. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marlin passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Prairie Home Hospice – McLaughlin House, Marshall, MN on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
He is survived by his children Bernie Kuehn of Milroy, Amy (Dale) MacArthur of Marshall, Brenda (Larry) Olsen of Lake Benton, and Kathy (Glen) LaVoy of Cottonwood; grandchildren Alexander (Hannah) MacArthur, Kayla (Josh) Welvaert, Isabella (Taylor) Johnson, Samuel MacArthur, Brady (Mindee) Olson, Terron (Mallory) Olson, Karissa Olsen, Krystal (Jon) Gottsman, Taylor LaVoy, Dalton (Brenna) LaVoy, Kylie LaVoy, and Grace LaVoy; great-grandchildren Autumn, Pippa and Emry MacArthur, Lincoln and Raelynn Welvaert, Elsie and Sadie Johnson, Oliver and Lyric Olson, and Amity Olson. Marlin is preceded in death by his wife Darlene; his parents Paul and Hertha; daughter-in-law Rosie Kuehn; and grandson Tanner LaVoy.
