Mark Eugene Greenway, age 76, of Canby, MN, passed away on May 31, 2025, at Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby. The Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is handling the arrangements.
Mark Greenway was born on April 29, 1949, in Maryville, MO to Walter “Chub” and Betty (Benson) Greenway. He was raised in Bedford, Iowa, where he excelled in both track and football. He spent his summers working as a lifeguard at Lake of Three Fires. After graduating from Bedford Community High School in 1967, he went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa. On October 18, 1969, Mark was united in marriage to Ellen Finken in Avoca, Iowa. He proudly served five years in the National Guard. Mark dedicated 44 years to a successful career in banking, Mark enjoyed playing golf, attending sporting events, and following Nebraska Cornhusker football. He especially cherished family vacations to the Black Hills and Colorado and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ellen; children: Lori Greenway (Jerry Rothstein) of Sartell, MN; Tim Greenway of Portland, ME; Kayla (Tyler) Bailey of Sioux Falls, SD; and Alex (Sara) Greenway of Tracy, MN; five cherished grandchildren: Elyse, Logan, Evan, Emma, and Blake; sister Janet Connelly; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous beloved family members and friends.
Mark will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of golf.
