Marjorie Gigstad, 92, of Marshall and formerly of Cottonwood, Minnesota, died on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.  A Private Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota.  Interment will follow in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Cottonwood, Minnesota.  A live stream will be available starting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Marjorie Lorraine Wilson was born on October 29, 1928, in Lucas Township, near Cottonwood, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of John and Ella (Pfarr) Wilson and was raised on the family farm. Marge was baptized and confirmed in her youth, attended country school near Cottonwood, and began waitressing after high school.  It was there that she happened to meet Mr. Raymond Gigstad.  On February 15, 1947, Marge was united in marriage to Raymond at the Silo Lutheran Church Parsonage in Cottonwood.  The couple made their home there until they moved to Marshall in 1994.  They raised 4 children and shared over 52 years of marriage before his passing in 1999.  Marge worked at Parker Hannifin in Granite Falls and dabbled as an “Avon Lady”.  Even after her retirement, Marge stayed busy by greeting shoppers at Walmart, keeping up the Comfort Inn in Marshall, and serving as a crossing guard.  She was a regular at the Marshall YMCA, exercising her body, mind, and relationships there.  Her other enjoyments in life included reading, crocheting, and tending to her flower gardens.

Marjorie Gigstad died on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.  She reached the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 23 days.  Blessed be her memory.

Marge is survived by her four children, Dennis (and Carla) Gigstad of Maple Grove, Dianne (and Doug) Schwecke of Schroeder, Sharon (and Joe) Buysse of Marshall, Michelle (and Scott) Wajer of Marshall; 11 grandchildren, Heather (and John) Van Cleave, Holly (and Brian) Schriener, Dale Schwecke, Tim (and Jeanette) Schwecke, Brady (and Denise) Schwecke, Danielle (and Pat) Ziemer, Megan (and Paul) Schultz, Kayla (and Kyle) Lanners, Emily (and Matt) Boerboom, Brandi (and Justin) Louwagie, Ashley (and Brett) Nowotny; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.  Marge is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella Wilson; husband, Raymond Gigstad; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are specified to either Prairie Home Hospice or Avera Hospice in Marshall.
