Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Kimpe, 95, of Minneota, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota. Interment will follow the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota. Masks are required at all indoor events and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Margaret Emma (Hamerlinck) Kimpe was born on January 16, 1926, in Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Henry and Sadie (Koltze) Hamerlinck. She was a member of the first class to graduate from eighth grade at St. Edward Catholic School and later graduated from Minneota High School. Margaret was married to Raymond Kimpe. The couple farmed and raised their family west of Minneota. Ray died at a young age and Margaret became a single mother at a young age. She always maintained a very positive attitude and will be remembered as a very accepting, loving and caring mother and grandmother. After her children were out of the house, she worked at the
Minneota Manor. Margaret was an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church and was very passionate about her family. She enjoyed quilting, baking, puzzles, word searches and other activities. She also enjoyed time at the Senior Center and her Monday Morning coffee group in Taunton.
Margaret died on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Richard Kimpe of Clarkfield, Dennis (and Susan) Kimpe of Brookings, SD, David (and Jean) Kimpe of rural Minneota, Sue (and Bob) Schultz of Marshall, Judy (and Bill) Beck of Clear Lake, MN, Patricia Markins of Indianapolis, IN, John (and Jane) Kimpe of Minneota, Butch (and Judy) Kimpe of Marshall, 25 grandchildren, 32.5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, siblings Robert (and Marie) Hamerlinck, Lucille De Sutter, Agnes Coudron, Bernice (and Myron) Kloos, Kathy Boogaard, Barbara Drietz, brother-in-law Lawrence Stienessen, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, grandson Greg Kimpe, sister Mary Ann Stienessen, in-laws George De Sutter, Ed Boogaard, John Coudron and Florian Drietz.
