Margaret Patricia Habben, was born on April 30, 1926, in Roseau County, Minnesota. She graduated from Balaton High School in Balaton, Minnesota. Following her graduation, Margaret married Edward Habben in 1944, at the United Methodist Church in Balaton. The young couple moved to Litchfield, Minnesota, but soon returned to their roots in Balaton.

After many years of staying home to raise the couple’s eight children, Margaret entered the work force. After 20+ years of working, she retired from Schwan’s. The thing that Margaret loved above all else was her family. Some of her favorite hobbies were flower gardening, playing Rumikub, cards, and reading books about the hardships and triumphs of early settlers.
