Louella May Gilb, age 87 of Garvin, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 after a battle with lung cancer at Clarkfield Care Center with family by her side. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19 at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in the Russell Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Louella May Gilb was born March 1, 1934 to Glen and Gladys (Ross) Galbraith in Russell, Minnesota. She attended first through tenth grade at Russell schools. On September 23, 1950, Louella married the love of her life Donald Gilb. The couple moved to New Jersey for two years, when Don joined the army. Don then accepted a job at John Deere in Tracy, where they then moved. The couple moved around the community including near Currie, Tracy, Elko, and Adrian. The couple settled in Garvin on a hobby farm, where Louella had resided ever since. Louella enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and doing puzzle books. She loved spending time with her family and her pet dogs. To pass the time she enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing, and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
Louella is survived by her children: Donald Gilb, Steve (Sharon) Gilb, Linda (Jim) Farley, Lorraine Ombori, Dale (Beth) Gilb and Lori Pettibone; and siblings: Kathryn Porchardt, Sandra (Jim) Andres, Daniel (Monica) Galbraith and Bradley (Wendy) Galbraith. She is survived and loved by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Glen and Gladys Galbraith from Russell; husband Donald Gilb from Tracy; son Bob Gilb; daughter-in-law Deb Gilb; and siblings: Joyce Miller, Ronald Galbraith, Norman Galbraith, Ramona Munsinger and Patricia Galbraith.
