Lonnie Sutton, age 75, of Redwood Falls, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Carris Health-Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church of Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.  Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Service of Redwood Falls and Morgan.

Lonnie was born on August 13, 1945 to Merlin and Sylva (Lathem) Sutton in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Lonnie grew up in the Beaver Dam area. He attended the University of Minnesota attaining his Masters and PhD in plant genetics.  On September 3, 1966 he married Julie Hyne at St. Peters Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He and Julie moved to Redwood Falls where he worked for Dekalb/Asgrow with plant genetics. In 1992 Lonnie and Julie purchased Blossom Town and ran this until 2008 when he retired.  Lonnie was an active member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. He was very active in the community by serving on the Redwood Falls City Council, Lions Club, and the Travelers Club. Lonnie enjoyed coffee with the group every day and golfing.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Julie of Redwood Falls; children – Patrick (Kerri) Sutton of Anoka and Jennifer (Dan) Beitz of Columbus, Wisconsin; grandchildren – Jackson Sutton, Lindsey Sutton, Walker Beitz and Hallie Beitz; brother Bill (Chris) Sutton of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.  Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Sylva Sutton, and a sister, Janeane.
