Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence “Larry” Marks, 84, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be Friday, January 10, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service; 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.

Lawrence Girard “Larry” Marks was born on July 26, 1940, in Marshall, MN, to Robert and Louise (Tanghe) Marks. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958. In 1960, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Pearcy at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. To this union were born children David, Daniel, Lisa and Brian.  Larry did glass installation for many years. He later worked as a Custodian for the Marshall Public Schools. He was a talented handyman and enjoyed fixing things and helping others. He enjoyed playing pool and will be remembered for his kind demeanor and smile on his face.

Larry died on Thursday, January 2, 2025, under hospice care at his residence in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Marshall, MN, son David (Rebecca) Marks of St. Paul, MN, son Daniel (Kitsi) Marks of Marshall, MN, daughter Lisa Van Overbeke (Dwight) of Sioux Falls, SD, son Brian (Patti) Marks of Cottage Grove, MN, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings Robert (Marcia) Marks from New Hope, MN, Sharon (Allan) Pierskalla from Brookly Center, MN, Bruce (Paulette) Marks of Marshall, Dennis (Susan) Marks of Shakopee, MN, Melanie (Mark) Larson of Dawson, MN, Janelle Kennedy of Madison, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bob and Louise Marks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
