Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth “Kenny” DeBaere, 56, of rural Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The Horvath Fuenral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Kenneth James DeBaere was born on October 21, 1969, in Rochester, MN, to Raymond and Margaret (DeBruyckere) DeBaere. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1988. Kenny earned an Associate of Business Degree from the Canby Area Vocational Technical School. He worked at several jobs including for Prairie View Pork in Ivanhoe and doing construction before beginning a 25 year career as an insurance agent for Doyle Insurance. On September 18, 1992, he was united in marriage to Eve Paradis at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall. The couple raised their family in rural Marshall. Kenny enjoyed his hobby farm and helping others farm as well. Kenny was very generous and was a friend to all. He never forgot a birthday and was always willing to help when needed. He also believed in service to his community and was a volunteer member of the Lynd Fire Department. Kenny was most fond of time spent at Little Bass Lake in Bemidji. He was an excellent husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenny died suddenly and unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, October 1, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Eve, of Marshall, sons Thomas DeBaere of Marshall, Alex DeBaere of Green Valley, siblings Greg DeBaere of Taunton, Jim (Susan) DeBaere of Falun, KS, Kathy (Tim) Weidendorf of Glencoe, sister-in-law Lia (Steven) Hall of Greenfield, MN, brother-in-law Michael Paradis (special friend Denise Miller) of Chaska, many nieces, nephews, relatives and so very many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and best friend, Shawn Doyle.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the North Memorial Ambulance First Responders, Marshall Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff Department, Ghent Fire Department and friends and family who provided comfort, food and love. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
