She grew up in the Russel, Ghent, and Marshall areas and attended schools in each through the eighth grade.  On May 26, 1953, June was united in marriage to Julius “Jules” Vierstraete at the St. Clotilde Catholic Church. Together, the couple moved to the family farm in Fairview Township, where they farmed until Jules death in 2002. June continued living at the farm until November of 2020.  As she needed more assistance with her care, she moved into Marshall and then Cottonwood.  June loved collecting pictures of family and friends; however, her greatest pastime was crocheting afghans and doilies, which she donated to many friends and relatives as well as church raffles.  June was an active member and volunteer for Bingo and Steak Nights at the VFW Post #742 in Marshall.

June is survived by her sisters, Ethel of California, Inez of Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  June was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jessie (Galbraith) Black; husband, Julius Vierstraete; three sisters and four brothers.
