Joyce Redding, age 84, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. next Monday, November 27, 2023, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Following interment in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, a reception will be held back in Carlin Hall at the church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The afternoon will begin with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and the evening will conclude with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will then continue one hour prior to her service, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Joyce Ann Qunell was born on November 2, 1939, in Marshall, Minnesota. She was one of seven children born to Ovid and Cecilia (Gregoire) Qunell. Joyce grew up in Marshall and she attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where she was baptized, received her first communion, and was later confirmed. Joyce attended Catholic school in Marshall, graduating with the high school class of 1957. On May 19, 1959, Joyce was united in marriage to Daniel Redding at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall and shared 25 years of marriage together prior to his death in 1984. The next year Joyce met Mr. Vern Goslar and the two have been side by side for the last 39 years. Joyce worked initially for Northwestern Bell Phone Company before moving to Woolworth’s department store where she assisted in merchandising. She finished her career as the office administrator for Trio Plumbing and Heating prior to her retirement about 20 years ago. She was active in volunteering for the Lyon County Fair and served as a leader in 4-H. Joyce’s other enjoyments in life included bowling, golfing, spending time on Lake Shetek with her grandchildren, watching the birds, catching a Minnesota Twins or Vikings game, birthday trips to the casino, and spending winters in Arizona with Vern.
Joyce Redding died peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023, just 15 days after her 84th birthday. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her longtime partner, Vern Goslar of Garvin; 3 children, Craig (Glenda) Redding of Sioux Falls, SD, Carrie (Kurt) Wenger of Zumbrota, Chris (Bruce) Greve of Sioux Falls, SD; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Redding, Eli Redding, Damian (Karina) Wenger, Amber Wenger, Paige Wenger, Taylor (Caroline) Greve, Tanner (Brooke) Greve; 6 great-grandchildren, Paxton, Ethan, Lane, Avery, Hudson, Dawson; Vern’s children, Kevin (Debbie) Goslar of Marshall, Kris DeWitt of Garvin; Vern’s grandchildren, Tammy Tracy, Bobby Goslar, Joey Goslar, Briann Goslar, J.C. (Jordan) DeWitt, Tristan DeWitt, Chance DeWitt; Vern’s 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Cecelia Qunell; husband, Daniel Redding; and her 6 siblings, Gloria, Jean, Joan, George, Bobby, and Janet.
