Jennifer Nicole Engles was born January 31, 1978, in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Jim and Jan (Kraus) Engles. She graduated from New Ulm High School with the class of 1996 and continued her education at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, graduating in 2000. On October 7th, 2006, Jen was united in marriage to Matthew Hasty in New Ulm. The couple made their home in Marshall where Jen worked for U.S. Bank. They shared over 18 years of marriage together and added their daughter Elizabeth “Ellie” to the family in 2018. Jen was a homebody at heart and enjoyed reading and baking in her free time. She would outpace anyone who dared to join her on her early morning walk. Jen inherited the family love of card games and board games, which were played at all family gatherings. She was the Scattergories champ, so much so that no one would play with her anymore. Jen thoroughly enjoyed her biannual scrapbooking retreat with friends where she creatively assembled a scrapbook for all of her loved one’s major life events. She loved her family and being a mom to Ellie and was actively involved with all her extra-curricular activities.
She is survived by her husband, Matt Hasty, and daughter, Ellie; mother, Jan (and Jack) Larson; 3 siblings, Jodi Nelson, Katie (and Tom) Dolan, Nick (and Alli) Larson; father-in-law, Lloyd Hasty; father, Jim Engles; grandmother, Eda Engles; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Jen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herb and Carol Kraus; grandfather, Ralph Engles; and mother-in-law, Cheryl Hasty.
