Jane (Fischer) Lensing was born March 28, 1931 on the family farm to Nicholas and Agatha (Pelzel) Fischer in Vail Township, Redwood County. She was baptized April 1, 1931, made her First Communion in 1939, and was confirmed in 1943, all at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Jane attended St. Anne’s Catholic School, graduating in 1949. On Feb 5, 1951, Jane was wed to Donald Lensing at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Together they lived on the farm east of Wabasso, where they resided for 55 years before moving into Wabasso in 2006. Jane stayed home to raise her children and helped on the farm. She was very involved with the Redwood County Fair and won many awards for her flowers and baked goods. Very active in the community, Jane was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, CCW and sang with a group at local nursing homes. She was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, serving as a CCD teacher, sewing quilts for the missions, and was a trustee for 24 years. Jane was awarded the Bishop’s Medal for Service May 18, 1991. She sewed many quilts for family members over the years, along with gardening, baking and canning.
