Howard N. Peterson, age 77, of Lake Benton, Minnesota  died Thursday, October 1, 2020, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hartquist Funeral Home in Lake Benton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and Hartquist Funeral Home – Lake Benton Chapel.

Howard was born June 22, 1943, to Donald and Isabelle (Larson) Peterson, in Minneapolis, MN. He attended Hawthorn School, Riverside, and also Moorhead High School, where he graduated in 1961.  He was a truck driver for Atlas Moving and Postal Service from 1962-1976, a police officer in Glyndon, MN from 1977-1979, then Police Chief in Lake Benton, MN from 1979-1992, and he also drove truck for Jim Palmer Trucking.  Howard enjoyed building model airplanes, woodworking, Casino gambling, lawn care, and snow removal for his neighbors.

Howard is survived by his children, Mark (Kristy) Peterson, Paul (Jennifer) Peterson, Christina (Ryan) Kapperud, Angela (Danny) Peasley, John Peterson, and Matthew Peterson; grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Bryce, James, Keith, Patty, Brandon, Jason, Ashley, Gabe, Tommie, Matthew, Amy, Ben, Joe, Zach, and Lexi; great-grandchildren, Berkley, Jace, Isabella, Landen, Nana, Isidro, Elijah, Jonathan, Sol, Harper, Emma, and Jonah; great-great-grandchildren, Quentin and Noah; siblings, Butch, Donnie, MaryAnn, and Mike, and his best friend, Carol Blaisdell.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Donald and Isabelle, and a brother, Dick Peterson.
