Helen Clark, age 93, passed away on November 21, 2020 at Boulder Creek under the care of Prairie Home Hospice.
Helen Marie (Stassen) Clark was born on December 23, 1926 to Joseph C. and Mary (Boerboom) Stassen on the family farm in Fairview Township Marshall, MN. Helen married Jim Clark on November 18, 1947 at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. The couple farmed near Marshall where they raised their two children. During their retirement, they were blessed with helpful neighbors and friends. In later years, Helen moved to Boulder Estates and enjoyed the community life. Helen transferred to the compassionate care of Boulder Creek in May 2020. Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, ten-pin bowling, golfing, cards, and creating wonderful meals. A recipe doesn’t exist that couldn’t be improved by her “pinch of this or substitute that”. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Council of Catholic Daughters, Council of Catholic Women, WMMC Hospital Auxiliary, Marshall Area Adult Community Center and volunteered at the Avera Hospital Thrift Shop.
Helen is lovingly remembered by daughter Patricia Pardell (friend Barry) and son Jason (Mary Ellen) Pardell and their children, Nicholas and Lauren. Son, Kenneth (Carol) Clark, their children Melanie (Chris) Dockter and children Jack, Fiona and Asher; Todd Clark and Corey (Alexis) Clark. Siblings Rita VanDorpe; Lawrence (Beverly) Stassen; sister-in-law Louise Stassen. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Teresa (Nick) Kerkvliet, brothers Clarence Stassen and Eugene (Margaret) Stassen, brother-in-law, Ed VanDorpe.
