Harvey Wohlers, age 78, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Following a reception, interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church just before the service, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his celebration at 11:00 a.m.  Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.

Harvey William Wohlers was born on May 11, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Witt) Wohlers. Harvey grew up in Iowa where he attended Beebeetown school before graduating from Tri Center Community School in Neola, Iowa, in 1962.  Harvey’s early diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy did not deter him from extending his education at the University of Iowa where he studied accounting.  Harvey worked for several years in Council Bluffs before moving to Elk River, Minnesota.  It was there that Harvey met and then married Ms. Marlys Rohlin.  The couple was united in marriage on September 14, 1991. The couple spent nearly 16 years of marriage together before Marlys’ death in July 2007.  Harvey was dedicated to his church over the years and lived out a strong faith.  HE also had a passion to follow many different sports, particularly baseball and the Minnesota Twins.  His Iowa roots also came out during many Hawkeye competitions.  Harvey will be remembered for his determination and persistence, even as he faced many challenges due to his life-long disability.

Harvey Wohlers died in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Thursday, January 5, 2023. He had reached the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 25 days. Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his sisters, Betty Sample of Urbandale, IA, Alice (Richard “Dick”) Goodell of Missouri Valley, IA; niece, Sally (Michael) Emmons of Council Bluffs, IA; nephews, John Goodell of Missouri Valley, IA, Will (Starla) Goodell of Laramie, WY; great-niece, Ciera Swackhamer; great-nephew, Chase Swackhamer; numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends in both Iowa and Minnesota.  Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys Wohlers; parents, Charles and Dorothy Wohlers; and niece, Amy Swackhamer.
