Gerald Ray Olson, age 70, of Granite Falls passed away at the Clarkfield Care Center on Friday, January 28, 2022, with family by his side. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Gerald was born on December 1, 1951, in Montevideo, Minnesota to Randolph Olson and Arlene (Rud) Knutson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Gerald attended the Montevideo Public Schools. He served his country in the United States Army and spent 14 months in Vietnam. Gerald was a bit of a free spirit and lived several years in both Florida and Las Vegas. He always considered Southwest Minnesota his home and for the past 13 years he lived in Granite Falls. Gerald always had a thirst for knowledge and was a lifelong learner of everything. He enjoyed playing chess, backgammon and all card games. He also dabbled in writing. Gerald was a kind, caring, generous, gentle man.
Gerald is survived by his mother, Arlene Knutson of Granite Falls; brothers, Lloyd (Gail) of Mission, TX, Larry (Barb) of Willmar; sister, LeeAnn (Gregg) Boushek of Echo; step-brother, David (Valarie) Knutson of Medford; several nieces, nephews, extended families, and long-time friend, Ronnette Trulson. He was preceded in death by his father, Randy; and step-father, Harlen Knutson.
