Mass of Christian Burial for George Neville, 70, of Cottonwood, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Visitation will continue on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the church.  Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Cottonwood.

George Joseph Neville was born on January 15, 1949, in Olivia, to George Sr. and Caroline (Steil) Neville.  He grew up in Olivia and graduated from Olivia High School.  On October 1, 1966, he was united in marriage to Lona Franzen in Sioux Falls, SD.  The couple lived in Olivia for a time where George did carpentry and farm work.  In 1974, they moved to Cottonwood.  George worked for Viking Coca Cola in Marshall for about eight years, then drove a Feed Delivery Truck for the Farmer’s Co-op Elevator in Cottonwood and later, Equity Elevator in Wood Lake.

George enjoyed camping, watching old Westerns and gardening.  He was most passionate about time spent with his family.  He enjoyed helping Lona with her daycare, cooking for family and driving his grandchildren to their many activities.  He will be greatly missed by many.

George died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at his residence in Cottonwood.  He is survived by his wife, Lona, of Cottonwood, daughter Jody (and Wes) Naab of Wood Lake, son Greg Neville (and Mike) of St. Cloud, daughter April (and Jamie) Anderson of Cottonwood, grandchildren Andrew (and Tracy) Neville, Derek “Duey” (and Danielle) Naab, Kailey (and Jacob) Louwagie, Austin Naab, Abby Neville, Olivia Neville, Elijah Neville, Isabelle Neville, Makenna Anderson, Aiden Anderson, great-grandchildren Domonic Neville, Ali Neville and Layla Naab, mother-in-law Gloria Franzen, siblings Lois (and Roy) Birdwell, Mary (and Mike) Tucker, Nancy (and Denny) Mathison, Gerry (and Julie) Neville, Tony (and Darla) Neville and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Caroline, father-in-law Herbert Franzen, nephew Mathew Birdwell, and sister-in-law Beck Franzen.
