Franklin Delano “Frank” Hyllested, age 88 of Tracy formerly of Hopkins, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Sanford Sioux Falls Medical Center.  Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, guests will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Franklin Delano Hyllested was born April 16, 1933 to Peter and Martha (Vogelsberg) Hyllested in Tracy, Minnesota.  He was baptized and had his first communion at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  After attending Tracy Area Public School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1954.  Frank was stationed overseas and received the National Defense Service Medal and he was honorablably discharged in May 1957. He worked for the Minnetonka Public Schools for over 20 years, until his retirement on October 31, 1995.  Frank was a member of the American Legion and VFW.  He enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Wild.

Franklin is survived by his sons: Jason of Williston, ND and Joel of Golden Valley; sisters: Carol Wendt of Lakeville and Johanna Bartlett of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
