Floyd Lovestrand, age 88, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Canby, MN with Pastor Jeff Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the East Elim Cemetery, Ivanhoe, MN.

Floyd Wilhelm Lovestand was born April 17, 1933 to Andrew Gustave and Ellen (Lundberg) Lovestrand. Floyd went to Ivanhoe Public School until 8th grade. He farmed with his dad until 1958, then the Army drafted Floyd. After he returned from the service to farm the Army called him back for another tour. He drove truck for the Army while in the service.  After serving our country Floyd came home to farm his parents farm in Lincoln County. Floyd drove gravel truck for Minnesota Valley out of Granite Falls, MN. Then he worked for Rupp Construction out of Slayton, MN. Rupp had the gravel truck that Floyd drove with “Big Swede: on the door.  Floyd married Lillian Francis Prins on January 5, 1980. They enjoyed traveling the United States visiting relatives and friends. Floyd also enjoyed snowmobiling and eating lutefisk. Time spent with his dog Bobby was something Floyd enjoyed for years. Floyds saddest days were when Lillian passed away in 2015 and 2018 when their dog Bobby died.  Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canby.

Floyd is survived by one step-son; Leonard and Sharon Prins of Clear Lake, SD and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and countless cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Ellen Lovestrand and his wife, Lillian.
