Evelyn Husby, age 88, of Canby, MN passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Heritage Pointe Living Center in Marshall. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Canby, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Canby, MN. Houseman Funeral Home of Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Evelyn Jean (Engel) Husby was born June 26, 1932 in Canby, MN to Emil and Elsie (Koelke) Engel. She was baptized and confirmed at Canby Zachueus Lutheran Church.  Evy attended and graduated from Canby High School in 1951. After graduating, Evy moved and worked in Minneapolis. She moved back to Canby where she met and married Richard Husby on July 25, 1952. They were blessed with three children; daughter, Valorie and sons, Michael and Christopher. Evy, outside of being a wife and mother, worked various jobs. She was employed by Central Telephone Company in Canby where she worked until the office closed. The company moved her and Richard to Worthington, MN where she continued working until she retired.  After retiring from the phone company, Evy and Richard moved back to Canby. Evy enjoyed her retirement by spending more time with family and friends. This included meeting a group of friends at the Canby Bakery every day. Evy was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of WELCA, Chairman for Neomi Circle and she also assisted in the office helping prepare bulletins or wherever she could help.

Evy is survived by her sons: Michael (Barb) Husby of Westland, Michigan and Christopher (Lori) Husby of Canby, MN; son-in-law, Mike (Sandee) Andree of Tracy, MN; her brother-in-law, Bruce (Sandee) Husby of Colorado; nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Husby; daughter, Valorie Andree; parents, Elsie and Emil Engel; stepfather, Alvin Vierhuf; sister, Eleanor (Dick) Schroeder and nephew David Schroeder.
