Ethel Mary Helget, age 79, of Morgan, passed away on May 21, 2021, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday. May 26, 2021 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. all at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Visitation will continue on Thursday, from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.  Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Service of Morgan.

Ethel was born on February 6, 1942 to Arnold and Veronica (Schroepfer) Hillesheim in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, third of 6 children. She grew up in the Winthrop and Sleepy Eye areas and graduated from the Winthrop High School in 1960. She married Wallace Helget on August 30, 1961 at St. Michael’s in Gaylord. Together they farmed and raised six children near Morgan. Ethel was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church by being a Eucharistic Minister helping with communion, she also helped count offerings and cleaning at church. Along with being a homemaker she worked outside the home at Norwood, Gilmor Manor and Dan’s Bakery. In her spare time, she enjoyed scrap booking, needlework and was part of Harmony Homemakers. Ethel loved gardening and flowers as well as cooking. She loved showering her children and grandchildren with cross stitch items as well as beautiful hand made cards. Ethel is survived by her children-Jeff (Betty Ravnik) Helget of Ironton, Brian (Kelly Hornstein) Helget of Crystal, Wally (Jodi) Helget of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, Keith (Dawn) Helget of Ellendale, North Dakota, Joe (Tammy Frost) Helget of Clements and Jenny (Beau) Brandt of Marshall. She is survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Sisters- Arnolda Fischer and Judy (John) Klotz of New Ulm. Brothers Greg (Joan) Hillesheim of St. George, Paul (Ruth) Hillesheim of New Ulm, Ron (Sue) Hillesheim of Wintrop.  Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace and brother in law, Willard Fischer.
