Edwin O. Fairchild, age 79, of Canby, MN, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 at his home near Canby. Memorial service will be 3 pm Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN with Rev. Nick Alfaro officiating. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 9th in the Fagernes Lutheran Cemetery in Blair, Wisconsin. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
Edwin Fairchild was born March 23, 1943 in Canby, Minnesota to parents Mark and Annie (Christianson) Fairchild. He was raised on the Canby farm with his brothers and sisters Evelyn, Ivan, Daniel, Lester, Theodore, Henry, Pearl, Nina, June. He served in the National Guard. He married Mary Ann Moe Nov 12, 1966 at the Fagernes Lutheran Church in Blair, Wisconsin. To this union they were blessed with two children: Tom and Faye. Together Mary and Edwin farmed west of Canby and raised their children. He raised registered polled Herefords and hogs. For a few years he also raised and sold chihuahua puppies in the Chicago area. Edwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. For a few years after they were married, Ed enjoyed flying in his airplane, an Aronca 7AC Champion. He was handy with making things and made a lot of the things he needed on the farm. After he retired from farming, he started wood working and make several wood projects. He built his own lumber mill to make wood with for his projects.He gave away many of his wood projects to family and friends.
He is survived by brother Henry, sisters Nina and June, son Tom and his wife Christina, daughter Faye and grandson Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents Mark and Annie and sisters Evelyn and Pearl and brothers Ivan, Daniel, Lester and Theodore and his wife Mary Ann (Moe) Fairchild.
