Douglas Madden, age 62, of Lynd, Minnesota, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at his home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to an animal shelter of donor’s choice. A memorial gathering of family and friends be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Lynd Community Center.  Please join the family for refreshments and a time to remembering Doug.   

Douglas Lawrence Madden was born on June 7, 1959, to parents Melvin and Rose (Tucker) Madden in Marshall, Minnesota. He grew up in Lynd and was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church there.  Doug attended Lynd schools, graduating with the high school class of 1977, before moving to Rockford, Illinois.  Doug began his work as an auto mechanic near Chicago and, in 1978, he was united in marriage to Lori Weinzierl. The couple experienced tragedy at the loss of their twin boys due to complications and the couple split up soon afterwards. Doug remained in Illinois for another 20 years. In 1994 he was united in marriage to Kathy Humphrey. The couple moved back to Marshall in the mid-1990s and that marriage also ended after a few years.  Doug continued his work as a mechanic eventually retiring in 2001.  Doug was a quiet person often content to spend time alone and in nature and he always loved animals. He would often take in any stray that came across his path and cared for it as a dear pet. Doug also enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. 

Doug died on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at his home. He reached the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 25 days. Blessed be his memory.

He survived by his parents, Melvin and Rose Madden of Lynd; brother, Bradley (and Ngatiatik “Lisa”) Madden of Long Lake; sister, Dawn (and John) Zerr of Marshall; nieces & nephews, Jenny (Joey) Huffman, Jeffrey Madden, Elizabeth Madden, Sabrina Madden, Almyra Madden, Raymond Madden, Phoebe Madden, Bradley Madden, Dani Putra, Zachary (Christine) Zerr, Jacqueline (Jamie) Bobholz, and Leo (Danielle) Zerr; and many other relatives and friends.  Doug is preceded in death by his identical twin sons, Jason and Jeremy Madden; paternal grandparents, Leo and Phoebe Madden; maternal grandparents, Harry & Elvia Tucker,  and Amos & Maude Grover.
