Donald Lietz, age 90, of Ivanhoe, MN, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Hendricks Hospital, Hendricks, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. Burial will be in the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 7th from 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN.
Donald George Lietz was born near Ivanhoe, Minnesota to parents Joseph and Margaret (Fier) Lietz. He was raised on the family farm south of Ivanhoe and attended Ivanhoe Public School. On January 31, 1956 Don was united in marriage to Carol Appel and together they were blessed with six children. Don farmed and raised livestock near Ivanhoe. He was so proud of his Oliver tractors! He also drove school bus for 25 years and provided transportation services for Lincoln County and he periodically drove truck. If he was in his Ford pickup , you were sure to find some black licorice stashed away for the trip. He liked his sweet treats! Some of his favorite pastimes were bowling, puzzles, playing cards and year-round weather watcher which sometimes included climbing on top of the barn to check it out! He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and auction sales. He seemed to have a lucky streak at the casino- or at least that was his story! He enjoyed traveling and especially visiting his family. His sense of humor will always be remembered. He was a life long member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and was involved in many various church activities.
Don passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Hendricks Hospital at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 22 days.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children and grandchildren: Virgina (Dennis) Mack, Ryan, Justin and Emily; Cindy (Karl) Findorff, Alex and Megan; Roy (Penny) Lietz, Kathy, Karen, Stacey and Shawn; Curt Lietz, Kelly and Cory; Pam (Tom) Lozenski, Samantha, Lisa and Brady; Shannon (Steve) Guimond, Josh, Andrew and Ellie; 14 great-grandchildren and special friend, MaryAnn Tykwinski. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother Clarence.
