Donald Leroy Erp, age 94, of Canby, Minnesota died peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Sanford Canby Sylvan Court Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Canby, MN. Lunch will follow at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Canby, MN. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby is entrusted with the arrangements.
Donald Erp was born on 09-04-1929 in Freeland Township of Lac Qui Parle County to John and Anna Erp. Don attended Canby High School and graduated in May 1948. He then attended Macalester college in St. Paul and graduated with a master’s degree in mathematics. After graduation from college, he joined the Army and served from 1952-1954 in the Finance Office. He began teaching in Chaska, MN from 1954-1956 and also taught in the Math Department at Hopkins Senior High School from 1956-1987 at which time he retired. His hobbies were Gardening, Antiques, as well as Garage Saling.
