Donald “Don” Dreesen 67 of rural Slayton, MN passed away at this home on Friday, February 10, 2023.  Funeral services will be on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, February 16, from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.  Interment is at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.  Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is entrusted with arrangements.

Don Dreesen was born on April 5, 1955, in Sibley, Iowa to John and Helen Schneidermann Dreesen. Don’s love of farming started at a young age having learned to drive his first tractor at the age of four. Don graduated from Ocheyedan Community High School in 1973. Don spent much of his time working on the family farm. In his younger years, Don enjoyed sports, especially volleyball. He also enjoyed cars, riding motorcycle, and spending time with his family. His love of volleyball lead to meeting the love of his life, Lynne Vant Hul. They were united in marriage in 1987. They were blessed with two children, Brittany and Brandon. They initially made their home in Fulda, MN later moving to an acreage near Slayton, MN. Don’s love of all things farming lead to Don not only farming but also selling machinery. Don developed many lasting relationships throughout the agricultural community. Don served the Lord in many capacities throughout his life, he accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age. In his younger years he concentrated on the youth. As Don grew in his faith he served as a deacon and elder. Don was known as a prayer warrior. In recent years he spent his time during dialysis sessions in prayer for loved ones, and anyone else who needed prayer. Don passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at his home near Slayton surrounded by his family at the age of 67. He attended Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN. Don enjoyed time with his family. He loved watching his grandchildren, Kaidon and Lilly, and they loved when “papa” would come push them on the swing or take them on the gator for rides. Don will be best remembered for how his life displayed the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) The LOVE he had for his family. The JOY he felt watching his nieces, nephews, kids, and grandkids growing up. The PEACE he had in his faith. The PATIENCE he channeled, much like Job. The KINDNESS and GOODNESS towards strangers far and near. The FAITHFULNESS that continued through the hard times in his life. The GENTLENESS his presence provided. The SELF CONTROL he showed by analyzing before acting.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynne Dreesen of Slayton, MN, two children, Brittany Dreesen of Sioux Falls, SD, and Brandon Dreesen and his wife, Rachel of Slayton, MN, two grandchildren, Kaidon and Lilly Dreesen, ten brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ben and Karen Dreesen of Belleville, KS, Sherla and Dave Mayer of St. Paul, MN, Janelle and Gary Drent of Boone, IA, John and Anita Dreesen of Ocheyedan, IA, Mim and Paul Hibma of Ocheyedan, IA, Judy and Cecil Bremer-Walden of Bonners Ferry, ID, Bob and Patti Dreesen of Milford, IA, Peggy Luke of Wentworth, SD, Lynette and Dr. Dale Nystrom of Sioux Center, IA, and Dr. Jo and Lee Bruns of Hartford, SD, three brothers-in-law and a sisters-in-law and their spouses, Jerry and Myrna Breuker of Arnolds Park, IA, Rev. Kent and Wendy Vant Hul of Cedar Grove, WI, Mark and Kathy Vant Hul of Coralville, IA, and Jan and Dan Plesher of Sioux City, IA, and many nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Dreesen, his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, William and Mildred Vant Hul, two sisters, Janola Murra and Charlene Breuker, five brothers-in-law, James Murra, Dennis Bremer, Gene Luke, Dr. Rod Schuller and Wayne Vant Hul, two sisters-in-law, Virginia Schuller and Mary Van Es and eight nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Grace life Church in Marshall, MN on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Wing officiating. The pallbearers are Tim Hibma, Scott Bremer, Tomas Nystrom, Peter Mayer, Jed Breuker and Dale Drent. Interment is at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, IA.  Visitation will be on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN from 4-7 p.m. also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
