Delores Devorak, age 94, of Canby, Minnesota passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Gary, SD. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Houseman Funeral Home in Canby and will resume on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a procession to the Church.

Delores Mae Devorak was born on October 11, 1925 in Canby, MN the daughter of Albert and Augusta (Ochsendorf) Toben. She was the oldest of four children and attended school through the 8th grade. Delores cooked at the Canby Hospital and helped out families in their homes before she married John Devorak on June 17, 1944.

They farmed east of Gary, SD until retiring in 1991. They were in their home in Canby until 2014 when they moved into Sylvan Place Assisted Living.

Delores was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. She was a great cook, loved to sew, crochet, embroidery and to spend time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Diane Schulte of Eden Prairie, MN, Bonnie (Bill) Zink of Brookings, SD, and Mary (Darold) Hunt of Gary, SD; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, LuRetta (Jim) Huber, of Canby, MN; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John on July 13, 2014; her parents; an infant brother, Ronald, brothers, Doug and Robert; infant daughter, Patricia; daughter, Lynette Gilbertson; son David, granddaughter, Sherry (Hunt) Miller; and son-in-law, Gene Schulte.
