Mass of Christian Burial for Curtis “Curt” Clausen, 84, of Marshall, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the church with a Rosary at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Curtis Eugene Clausen was born on September 26, 1936, in Hendricks, MN, to Benny and Ethel (Laabs) Clausen. He grew up and received his sacraments in Elkton, SD. On May 8, 1954, he was united in marriage to Betty Mae Schafer. The couple moved to Marshall in 1956 where Curt worked as a truck driver. He drove for Marshall Processing, Marshall Meats, and for the Schwan Food Company for 27 years. Curt belonged to the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer hunting with Everett Wartner every November for years. He also enjoyed moose hunting in Canada, elk hunting in Colorado, goose hunting in South Dakota. The family had many bullhead dinners from local fishing and other meals from big fishing up north.
Curt died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.
He is survived by his daughter Denise (and John) Petersen of Owatonna; grandson Brock (and Chandra) of Mankato; great-grandchildren Madelyn and Zoey; granddaughter Megan (and Jared) Kahle of Mankato; great-granddaughter Elodie; son Tim of Morgantown, KY; granddaughter Desirez (and Brian) of Morgantown, KY; great-granddaughters Kenzi and Kaylee; grandson Dillon (and Lilly) of Morgantown, KY; great-granddaughter Emma; brother Ronnie (and Marlys) Clausen and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, son Douglas, parents Benny and Ethel, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Florence Schafer and brother-in-law Lucky Schafer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Avera At Home Southwest Minnesota or Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
