Coralie Leatrice Overby was born October 20, 1924 to John Emil and Inga Olena (Opheim) Ronning in Hendricks, MN. She was raised in Hendricks and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Coralie attended school in Hendricks and graduated in 1942. Coralie worked as the popcorn girl at the old Hendricks theater. This is where she met Norman Overby. Coralie was also present to serve popcorn when the Red Barn theater reopened several years ago.  She was united in marriage to Norman Overby on June 26, 1943 at First Lutheran Church in Hendricks and together they shared over 62 years of marriage. Four children were born to this union, Gail, Greg, Richard and Noreen. They farmed in the Astoria area many years. Once the boys left home Coralie worked side by side with Norman doing chores and milking the cows. She’d always head back to the house 5 or so minutes before Norman so she would have the meal on the table when he walked in the door. They retired in 1980 and moved to Hendricks.  Coralie was a member of Woodlake Lutheran Church and recently rejoined Christ Lutheran after Woodlake closed. She was active with many church activities: Ladies Aide, Sunday school teacher, and quilting. Coralie sang in the church choir and Norska Dame Sangers. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, library and church. She was a member of the Go Getters Extension Club, the Twentieth Century Club, Astoria and Hendricks Legion Auxiliary’s and the Hendricks Hospital Auxiliary. Coralie was well known for baking. Especially bread and butterhorns. She made hand stitched quilts and crocheted items.   Norman passed away on March 7, 2006. Coralie remained in their home until moving to the Hendricks Nursing home in January, 2017.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children: Gail (Val) Johnson, Greg (Dianna) Overby and Noreen Overby; daughter-in-law: Carol Overby; grandchildren: Dana (Doyle) Trankel, Matt (Erin) Johnson, Jason (Carol) Overby, Barry (Lynn) Overby, Jeremy (Carrie) Overby, Andrea (David) Marshall, Ryan (Ann) Overby, Robyn (Andrew) Den Boer, Carrie (Brian) Rehnke, Dustin Fickbohm, Amber (Ben) Hauger and Nicholas (Melissa Klein) Fickbohm; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Hendricks kids, Jan and Neil Nelson.  Coralie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; son Richard Overby; grandson Darren Johnson; and great grandson Gavin Overby.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Hendricks Hospital Hospice division.
