Cynthia “Cindy” Hiedeman, age 73, of Canby, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby, MN. Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 2nd at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Monday, September 1st at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Cindy was born on January 6, 1952, in Canby, Minnesota, to Joel and Mavis (Mohn) Christianson. She grew up with a strong foundation of faith and family connections that meant everything to her – two values that guided and enriched her life. For more than 20 years, Cindy dedicated her life to serving others as a social worker. She carried out her work with compassion, empathy, and steadfast commitment, touching countless families and leaving behind a legacy of care and advocacy that will not be forgotten. Cindy shared her gifts generously with her community. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, served on the DAC Board, and gave of her time and heart through Set the Table for Hospice. Her kindness, dedication, and ability to uplift others will be remembered by all who knew her. Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her loved ones. A woman of strength, compassion, and enduring spirit, Cindy’s legacy lives on through the love of her family, the lives she touched in her career, and her faithful service to her community.
Cindy is survived by her husband, James V. “Hiede” Hiedeman; her children, Amy Hiedeman, Anna (Jon) Fischer, Allyson (Mark) Pesek, Brian Hiedeman, and Jimmy Hiedeman; and her grandchildren, Hailee Fischer, Joey Hiedeman, Cambell Fischer, Mya Pesek, Mak Pesek, Tyler, Ryan, Blake, and Hannah Hiedeman. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy (Patrick) Popowski and Kaye (Murray) Anderson, along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and foster children (Frankie, Chris, and Matt Brown) who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mavis and Joel Christianson; her stepfather, John “Bud” Qualley; her mother-in-law, Julia Hiedeman; her father-in-law, Ray Hiedeman; and other beloved family members.
