Charles O. Ulrich, 94, of Redwood Falls passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Country Manor Sartell Campus in Sartell, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Crestlawn Cemetery, Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Wednesday, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m., at the church. Arrangements are with Nelson-Hillestad Funeral and Cremation Service of Redwood Falls.
Charles Ulrich, 94, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday May 19, 2021 at Country Manor Nursing Home, Sartell, MN. Charles was born February 14, 1927 to Oscar and Lenora (Kohls) Ulrich in Tracy, MN. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in New Ulm and left high school to join the U.S. Navy in 1944, serving 2 years on the USS Smalley, and being called up again to enter the Korean War in 1950. On June 11, 1950 he married Ruth Steinhaus. After returning from service they moved to Redwood Falls, where they resided since 1953. Chuck was an electrician for Lee’s Electric, Redwood Falls and Brandt Electric, Olivia. Chuck was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on building committees, usher, and was very active with St. John Lutheran School. He worked with Share the Spirit and Meals on Wheels and was a proud blood donor. Chuck loved to fish on Lake Mary in Alexandria and Lake Alexander in Cushing. He played many hours of solitaire, watched the Twins, and in his later years was an avid reader.
Charles is survived by daughters Charlene (Ron) Morrow, Waukesha, WI, Lynn (Jerry) Lauer, Burnsville and Michele Lindmeier, Sauk Rapids. Also surviving are grandchildren Leslie (Josh) Olson, Dana (Jon) Severson, Christopher (Nicki) Lauer, Kelsey (Nick) Reardon, Eric (Abby) Lindmeier, Kathryn (Ben) Montag, Emily (Barron) Nixon and twelve great-grandchildren, Beck and Lane Olson, Riley and Caleb Severson, Tristan and Keegan Lauer, Hazel Reardon, Zoey and Ella Lindmeier, Levi and Elise Montag, and Bryn Nixon. He is survived by brother Orten (Mickey) Ulrich, sister-in-law Linnea Ulrich, and brother-in-law Paul Schmidt. Charles is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents and siblings, Donald, Norma Jean Putnam, Charlotte Bartelt, Marianne Schmidt, Leon, Carole Gehrke, Tom, and son-in-law Joel Lindmeier.
