Robert (Bob) Eugene Sik was born in Hansenville Township on the Sik Homestead on May 15th, 1945, to Paul and Martha (Panka) Sik. Bob was the seventh of nine children born to Paul and Martha. Bob was welcomed into his Catholic faith by baptism at St. John’s Cantius Church in Wilno, MN, and was also confirmed there. Bob attended country school in his early childhood and continued his education in Canby. Bob’s love for farming and trucking started at a young age and grew with each passing year. He was never one to be afraid of hard work. Bob was determined and deeply committed to anything he put his mind to. When he wasn’t busy working, Bob enjoyed country-living, working on and collecting Oliver tractors, and his family. Through mutual friends Bob met Sandy Jelen who he married in February of 1965 in Wilno, MN. Together, they had two children, Bradley Scott Sik and Todd Douglas Sik, who he was most proud of. If there is anything Bob bragged about, it was his children, and later on, his grandchildren (6) and great-grandchildren (8 and counting). Following the end of his first marriage, he was fortunate to find companionship and love with Margaret (Peggy) Roe. Bob and Peggy married on August 25th, 2012, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. The two of them enjoyed their time together on their acreage, Green Acres, and spending time with their family and friends at every opportunity. Bob will be remembered for his strong mindset, incredible work ethic, and unwavering love for his wife and family. Specifically, his grandchildren will think of him with each meal, because being a part of the “Clean Plate Club” was very important for Grandpa Bob. His granddaughters will remember being “Grandpa’s girls and nobody else’s”, a phrase of Grandpa Bob’s that will forever be in their hearts.
Bob passed away with family by his side on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at 80 years,11 months and 23 days of age.
