Barry Elmer Wodtke was born to Elmer and Dorothy (Wirt) Wodtke on November 8, 1941. He grew up in Lake Benton and graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1959. After graduation Barry enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his tour in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Lake Benton and began his 33 year career at UBC Lumber in Pipestone, Minnesota. Due to many health complications, he entered Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and died peacefully on November 7, 2018 surrounded by friends, just one day before his 77th birthday,

Barry was a quiet man. He had a pet cat for many years that he loved very much. Barry enjoyed golf and going fishing with his best friends, Bob and Jack Redlinger. Bob’s garage was a favorite spot to watch football games. Barry was a sports fan and enjoyed watching games in the comfort of his home, but also appreciated time spent on road trips and driving his Monte Carlo around Lake Benton. He also liked to have a drink or two with many friends from Lake Benton, and close friend, Gary of Pipestone, Minnesota.

He will be remembered by his friends, Bob, Jim, Jack, and Gary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy.
