Audrey Bengtson, age 91, of rural Canby, MN passed away at her home near Canby, MN on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Funeral service will be 11:00am on Friday, September 25th at the Providence Valley Lutheran Church, rural Dawson, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Canby, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.
Audrey Shirley Bardahl was born on December 20, 1928 to Alfred and Thelka (Thompson) Bardahl. She was raised on a farm Southwest of Porter, MN along with her three older brothers. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school through the eighth grade. Audrey met and married Alton Teigland in June of 1948, to this union three boys were born. They lived on several different farms until a tornado took the farm in 1956. They then moved to Porter. Four years after this move Alton was killed in a car accident. Audrey moved to Canby to raise her three boys. While living in Canby she met Walter Bengtson and married him on July 17, 1965. Eleven months later this union had a daughter. Audrey and Walter raise this joined family on a farm Northeast of Canby. Audrey joined Walter raising crops and various farm animals, as well as keeping a trucking business going. They did this until Walter retired in 1994, Audrey lived on this same farm until her death on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the age of 91. Audrey had a special love for all animals, mainly dogs. She loved being outside working with her roses and gardening. She was a waitress in several area restaurants where she loved talking to customers’ that she helped. She also enjoyed meeting up with friends and family for lunch and holiday get togethers.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth, Douglas and Karen; daughter-in-law Lois Teigland, all of Canby, MN; grandchildren: Jeremy (Maria) Teigland, Madison, MN, Eugene (Bridget) Teigland, Maplewood, MN, Adam (Meredith) Teigland, Montrose, MN and Rachel (Ebrima) Jallow, Oakdale, MN; great grandchildren: Raelyn, Nicholas, Joshua, Matthew, Benjamin, Ella Teigland and Sophia Jallow; and sister-in-Law Evelyn Lundgren of Canby, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Alton Teigland and Walter Bengtson; son Norman; and three brothers: Arvid, Orlando and Theodore Bardahl.
