Alyssa Marie Larsen was born September 29, 1998 to Adam Larsen and Darla Provost in Redwood Falls, MN. She was baptized at Bishop Whipple – St. Cornelia’s Church. She graduated early from Redwood Valley High School and then attended SMSU in Marshall and MSU in Mankato studying medicine and archeology. After her schooling, Alyssa returned to the Lower Sioux Community. She worked at Kids Quest and later began working at Cansayapi Wakanyeza Owayawa Oti as a substitute teacher. Alyssa, with a gentle, kind heart, spread her respectful attitude in front of her when she entered any picture. Quietly gifted with many skills, she spent hours reading and writing about her experiences. As a small girl, she perceived fine details around her that she placed into beautiful drawings. She then moved her interest to photography. She loved to be active in sports, such as volleyball, and became the first female football player in the Redwood Valley Middle School. She was more content on a horse than she was on the ground. Beyond her ever present appreciation of all living things, she found joy in making her family and friends laugh; the people she loved deeply. She especially made time to take Cetan for ice cream in Ramsey Park. She was always seeking to learn, and found comfort in the home and teachings of her relatives, Bdewakantuwan, Dwellers of Spirit Lake.
Alyssa is survived by her father Adam Larsen of Lower Sioux; mother Darla Provost of Iowa; stepmother Marissa Hoffman, siblings: Curtis, Andre, Elijah, Aviahna, Anthony, Aryes, Kyren & Cetan; grandparents: Curt & Cathy Larsen, Elaine Provost, and Randy & Johnna Hoffmann; godparents: Josh Larsen, Jake Larsen & Lin Galarneau; and many aunties, uncles, cousins and other relatives & friends.
