Agnes Helen (Regnier) Paradis was born on December 30, 1919, to Archie and Louise (Blanchette) Regnier near Ghent.  She attended rural schools through 8th grade.  As a child, she worked alongside her parents on the farm milking cows, herding cattle and picking corn by hand.  She also worked at the Marshall Produce Egg Plant.  Agnes was united in marriage to Marvin Paradis on November 16, 1943, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent.  They lived in the Ghent area, then moved to Mapleton, and back to Marshall where they made their home.  Agnes was a homemaker and avid gardener and did canning as much as possible.  She enjoyed traveling and was known for her chocolate chip cookies.  She loved to embroider and made dish towels and table cloths for all of her children and grandchildren.  Marvin passed away on April 14, 1990.  Agnes did a lot of volunteering at Holy Redeemer and other organizations.  Activities at the Adult Community Center kept her very busy, including being on the Board of Directors for seven years and served as President for one year.  She referred to it as “her home away from home.”  Agnes continued to live in her home until 2014 when she moved to the Morningside Heights Care Center where she enjoyed activities, especially bingo and singing.

Agnes died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.  She is survived by her sons Richard (and Jane) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Robert (and Marge) of Omaha, NE; daughter Rosalie (and Ken) Hochstatter of Marshall; grandchildren Steven (and Jenny) Paradis, Ryan (and Mara) Paradis, Cory (and Lisa) Paradis, Troy (and Melissa) Paradis, Kate Hochstatter (and Eric Moon); great-grandchildren Jack, Ella, Tessa, Noah, Evan, Henry and Wyatt Paradis; brother Eugene Regnier of Dovray; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, brothers Elmer and Leonel, and sisters Isabel Urke and Sara Van Nevel.
