Adrian Carl Golberg was born on August 5, 1940, in Valley City, ND, to Carl and Eva (Grady) Golberg. Adrian began school at the age of four, because his mother was the teacher at a one room schoolhouse, and she brought him to work with her. He graduated from Valley City High School in 1957, at the age of 16. Adrian attended Valley City State College for one year before transferring to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He later earned a Master’s Degree from Rutger’s University. After graduating from college, he was employed with FDIC as a bank examiner with territories in Minnesota and North Dakota. On June 17, 1961, Adrian was united in marriage to Judy Nordgaard at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City. The couple moved from the Grand Forks area to Fargo and back to Grand Forks with Adrian’s job. In 1969, Adrian began his career as a banker in Cottonwood, MN. In addition to banking, Adrian owned an insurance and real estate agency. His desk was never neat, but he always knew where to find what he was looking for, no matter how high the pile. He was generous with his time and money to any cause that supported the local community. Adrian loved sports of any level in any form. He enjoyed golfing and was on a bowling league for many years. Adrian spent six years in the Air Force National Guards at the Air Force base in Fargo. He was an active member and past president of the Lion’s Club and the Independent Bankers of Minnesota. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served as a financial secretary in his younger years and also as an usher. Adrian enjoyed bargain shopping, and he had a famous sweet tooth, especially for peanut M&Ms. Adrian made family time a priority. Having a lake home provided a place for family, friends, and relatives to gather and make memories. The family fantasy football draft and events of Waterama were some of the favorite family highlights. In later years, Adrian and Judy spent the summer months in Glenwood and winter months in Arizona.
