Anne was born on March 22, 1946, to Edward and Lorraine (Zitzman) Bushard. The oldest of six children, she grew up on the family farm near Gibbon, MN. She attended St. George Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1964. Anne was spunky, spirited, and fiercely independent. Her love for horses began when her little brother won a pony at the county fair, sparking a passion that stayed with her throughout her life. Anne knew what she wanted and wasn’t easily deterred. That determination carried her through life, helping her accomplish her goals and, most importantly, build a life and provide for her family. Anne married Frank Schacher on July 30, 1966, and together they had two children, Tammy and Jason. The family eventually made their home in Redwood Falls, where Anne and Frank owned and operated the Montgomery Ward catalog store. They later divorced. Anne briefly worked as a travel agent before spending the final years of her career at Central Bi-Products. She took great pride in her home along the banks of the Redwood River, where she loved tending to her flowers. Anne had a passion for crocheting and took great joy in making Afghans for her children and grandchildren. She created doilies and other crocheted items to sell at local fairs. But what Anne treasured most were visits from her family, especially her grandchildren. Independent by nature, Anne remained active and self-sufficient for as long as she could, until chronic Guillain-Barré syndrome, and early onset dementia, gradually changed the life she had always known.
Anne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tammy Schacher (Mike) of Maynard and Jason Schacher (Tammy) of Morgan; grandchildren, Sara and Jessica Wellnitz, Ben (Bailey), Nick and Alex Schacher; step-grandchildren, Alli (Ozzy) Nunez, Breanna Walberg, Noah and Matthew Sather; great-grandchildren, Rylee Anne and Luka Nunez; and siblings, Dan (Mary) Bushard, Paulette Shibley, Laura (Bill) Dittrich, and Jean (Gary) Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lorraine Bushard, and her brother, Mark.
May Anne rest in God’s peace, and may her love stay close to us always.
